The object of St. Mary’s Catholic Women’s Club is threefold: the mutual benefits of its members, furthering charitable activities and aiding in the financial support of the church. The group works together with the parish on many spiritual and social events during the year. The function of the Club is to reach out to others as an extension of its Christian and Stewardship commitment. Any Catholic woman of Mansfield or vicinity may become a member. Regular meetings of the organization are held on the second Thursday of each month from September-April with an annual meeting held in May. Meetings usually start at 7:00 p.m.
The Knights are the largest lay Catholic family service organization in the world. They were established by the Venerable Fr. Michael J. McGivney, a Catholic priest in St. Mary’s parish in New Haven, CT in 1882. The George C. Shields Council #420 meets monthly at the Rose Garden at St. Mary’s parish. Guided by the principles of: charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism, members work to strengthen their families, their faith, and their parish community.
Invitation: to any Catholic man (one who follows the commandments and the precepts of the church) at least 18 years of age is invited to join in the charitable works to build up the parish community.
“Now choose Life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to His voice, and hold fast to Him.” (Deut. 30:19-20)
The Culture of Life is under relentless attack by the forces of death: abortion, euthanasia, sterilization and abortive contraception, and embryonic stem cell research. The Respect Life committee actively promotes renewed respect for all life by making the parish a center for life. The committee will educate parishioners about important issues and reach out to serve and meet the needs of those who are the most vulnerable among us. We are a task oriented committee with no set meeting schedule. Become a pro-life disciple and join the parish Respect Life Committee or simply stay connected with us via email correspondence.
“Inescapable responsibility of choosing to be unconditionally pro-life”
(The Gospel of Life, Pope John Paul II)
This parish family event occurs in September. The goal is to bring about a family spirit within the parish through fun activities, games, food booths and other forms of entertainment. The proceeds from the day go to the support of the parish. This is our major fundraiser for the parish. The Committee meets in May to begin preparation.
